Blast Furnace Gas Flow Measurement
The blast furnace stands as a monumental component of steel production in the steel industry. This towering structure, often reaching several stories high, functions as the primary unit where raw materials like iron ore, coke, and limestone undergo a complex transformation into molten iron. The process begins by loading these raw materials into the top of the blast furnace. Inside, the intense heat generated by combustion ascends from the bottom, creating an environment conducive to chemical reactions. The coke, a form of processed coal, acts as fuel, while the limestone is a flux to remove impurities from the iron ore. As the raw materials descend through the furnace, they're exposed to a stream of hot air called the "blast," which enters through tuyeres located near the base. This hot blast air facilitates the reduction of iron ore into molten iron. The blast furnace is a complex and critical element in the steelmaking process. Flow meters within this setting maintain a controlled environment, ensure efficient energy utilization, and support safe and productive steel production operations.
