Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Manager to oversee all production activities at our flow meter manufacturing unit. The ideal candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in managing end-to-end production processes, ensuring timely manufacturing, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing operations for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement a production plan in alignment with sales forecasts and customer requirements.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, machines, and materials to meet production targets.
- Monitor daily production output and take corrective actions if targets are not met.
- Coordinate with design and R&D teams for any modifications, improvements, or new product developments.
2. Raw Material & Inventory Management
- Oversee procurement and inward inspection of raw materials (stainless steel, brass, sensors, electronic components, etc.).
- Work closely with purchase and supply chain teams to maintain optimal inventory levels and avoid production delays.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and traceability of materials.
3. Process Optimization & Cost Control
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other best practices to optimize production processes.
- Minimize waste, rework, and defects by implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Reduce production costs without compromising on quality and performance.
4. Quality Control & Compliance
- Ensure that all instruments meet quality standards and specifications before dispatch.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) teams for inspections, testing, and calibration.
- Maintain ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other regulatory compliance requirements.
- Handle customer complaints and non-conformance issues by implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
5. Team Management & Training
- Lead and supervise production staff, machine operators, and technicians.
- Conduct training sessions on manufacturing best practices, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
- Motivate and develop team members to enhance productivity and skill sets.
6. Machinery & Equipment Maintenance
- Ensure regular maintenance and calibration of CNC machines, welding machines, pressure testing setups, and other critical production equipment.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance schedules.
7. Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
- Plan and oversee final inspection, packing, and dispatch of flow meters to customers.
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for smooth and timely delivery.
8. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production reports for management review.
- Document SOPs, work instructions, and production workflows.
- Track and analyze KPIs like production efficiency, rejection rate, and cost per unit.
Key Requirements:
- Education: BE/BTech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5-8 years in manufacturing, preferably in flow meters, instrumentation, or precision engineering.
- Strong knowledge of machining, welding, assembly, and calibration processes.
- Experience in ERP software for production planning and inventory control.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other industry standards.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with cross-functional teams.
