Kolkata is a state in the eastern part of the country India. Formerly known as Calcutta, it is the biggest metropolitan city and probably the East's most prominent business, commercial, and financial hub. Kolkata is a city known for its historical and cultural significance and is also referred to as the cultural capital of India. The town has a port and is also one of the prominent economic centers rooted in manufacturing industries.
Kolkata is the center of India’s jute processing industry. Other industries in the city include engineering, production, and distribution of consumer goods like beverages, foodstuffs, tobacco and textiles, and other light manufacturing units.
Kolkata is home to industrial establishments operated by public and private sector corporations. Major sectors include steel, heavy engineering, chemicals, minerals, cement, petrochemicals, agriculture, food processing, textiles, jute, etc. With such a wide array of industries, Calcutta also has manufacturers and suppliers of gas flow meters.
Submetering measures the material distributed across a tenant facility for each unit. Natural gas submetering is based on the same concept and measures gas flow to each unit in a multi-tenant facility. A gas meter is fitted to each unit to measure the amount of gas going to that unit in a multi-tenant facility.
While sub-metering helps to measure the amount of gas flowing into each unit, the exact consumption can be determined using this approach. This is probably the most common and ideal choice for a multi-tenant facility. It is also possible to retrofit existing buildings with new gas flow meters and perform the measurement.
Sub-metering of non-residential facilities is not permitted. A customer shall not charge others for gas received through a single meter unless the same is distributed to others. The process of submetering is usually allowed by the authorities as long as one falls within the guidelines defined for the same.
The big benefit of gas flow meters in submetering is that they allow people to know about their gas consumption and not worry about being wrong or paying a huge bill. For ample residential facilities, having the submetering will ensure that the residents are happy and not affected due to errors in billing. Since the measurements are separate, the approach provides transparency and avoids any confusion.
